Oregon Hotels

A motel is a public lodging establishment for automobile travelers. Motels have traditionally differed from hotels in that the former have facilities for free parking on the premises, are seldom more than three stories high, and offer occupants direct access to rooms without having to pass through a lobby. Motels are also generally smaller and farther away from urban areas, and they offer fewer services than hotels.

The distinction between motels and hotels, however, is very difficult to make, especially in the case of the so-called motor hotels, which combine the characteristics of both types of establishment. In the 1980s and 90s, some midrange motels began to offer suite accommodations and other features once found only in hotels. Motels can be seen as logical heirs to the earlier American public houses. Just as the inn was suited to 18th-century horse travel, and the hotel was suited to 19th-century railroad travel, the modern motel is suited to mass automobile travel on 21st-century expressways.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) classifies motels as a limited service lodging type with the following definition: "A low-rise or multistory establishment offering limited public and recreational facilities." Motels or Motor Lodges offer accommodations in low-rise structures with rooms easily accessible to parking (which is usually free). Properties have outdoor entry and small, functional lobbies. Service is often limited, and dining may not be offered in lower-rated motels and lodges. Shops and businesses are found only in higher-rated properties, as are bellhops, room service, and restaurants serving three meals daily.

A limited-service motel is traditionally a One-Star or Two-Star lodging. At a One-Star motel, guests can expect to find a clean, comfortable lodging that commonly serves a complimentary continental breakfast. A Two-Star motel is also clean and comfortable but has expanded amenities, such as a full-service restaurant, business center, and fitness center. These services may have limited staffing and/or restricted hours of use.

Herbs Etc. Liver Tonic (Milk Thistle/Oregon Grape Complex)

Ingredients: Milk Thistle, Toadflax, Oregon Grape, Echinacea, Licorice, Greater Celandine, Fringetree, Culver’s root, Blue Flag. Suggested Use: Take 15-25 drops or one softgel two or three times a day. Contraindications: Do not use during pregnancy. How Herbs, Etc. Softgels are Made? To prepare Herbs, Etc. Fast-Acting Softgels, herbs are first extracted with water and alcohol. The alcohol is then removed using a low temperature, vacuum process. The resulting liquid concentrate is then encapsulated in a softgel. Each softgel is the equivalent of one dosage of a liquid herbal extract. Laboratory tests confirm that Herbs, Etc.’s unique and proprietary process retains the active constituents of each and every herb. In fact, these tests also show that Herbs, Etc. Softgels preserve higher potencies than any other leading herbal extract. Formulated by Medical Herbalist Daniel Gagnon: Daniel has been a practicing herbalist since 1976. Born in French Canada, he relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1979. There he furthered his studies in medical herbalism, pharmacognosy and related subjects at the Santa Fe College of Natural Medicine, the College of Santa Fe and the College of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. His passion for helping others was born out of his own childhood health problems. His experience with conventional medical treatment of eczema, asthma and allergies motivated him to seek gentler, more soothing healing modalities, which ultimately put him on the path to becoming an herbalist. His goal is to educate both the public and the medical profession about the practical, healing applications of herbal medicine. He has been a vocal proponent of the healing properties of herbs. Daniel Gagnon is the founder of Herbs, Etc., America’s premier manufacturer of liquid herbal extracts, where he focuses his energy into creating synergistic herbal formulas and unique processes for ensuring potency. Health care professionals such as medical doctors, naturopaths, chiropractors and acupuncturists frequently call upon Daniel as an herbal consultant. He is the co-author of Breathe Free, a nutritional and herbal care book for the respiratory system; and the author of Healing Herbs for the Nervous System and Liquid Herbal Drops in Everyday Use. He regularly teaches seminars and classes on herbal therapeutics, both nationally and internationally. He is senior professor of Materia Medica at the North American College of Botanical Medicine located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. About Herbs, Etc. Herbs, Etc. has been widely recognized within the natural health industry as a leading manufacturer of high quality, potent liquid herbal extracts for over 25 years. The Herbs, Etc. family of products also features a line of Professional Strength Classic Liquid Herbal Extracts, which includes over 130 single extracts and formulas, as well as a new line of Professional Strength Alcohol Free Liquid Herbal Extracts. Daniel Gagnon, owner of Herbs, Etc. and a Medical Herbalist since 1976, has been an early proponent of the healing properties of herbs. He has focused his energy into creating synergistic herbal formulas and unique processes for ensuring potency. He regularly teaches herbal therapeutics, both in North America and abroad. In his more than 25 years of clinical experience, he has learned many of nature’s healing secrets by observing the way herbs interact with the human body. From this valuable experience, he discovered that the five secrets of an effective herbal product are: Freshness: First, the liquid herbal extracts in softgels stay fresh and potent much longer than capsules or tablet. Second, using fresh herbs is the only way to deliver the specific properties necessary for healing. Liquid herbal extracts start with fresh herbs, preserving the active constituents. Capsules, tablets, teas or loose herbs must first be dried, which saps them of the active constituents necessary for healing. Third, grinding whole herbs using super-cold methods, minutes before extraction, preserves all of the essential constituents. Cryogenic grinding prevents evaporation of essential oils and degradation of active substances. Potency: Herbalists have long recognized that potency is not about isolating a single “active ingredient,” but results from the interaction of many constituents within each herb. Herbal products containing a full spectrum of bioavailable constituents promote healing as well as the maintenance of health. Liquid herbal extracts, time and again, deliver more bioactive constituents than any other herbal supplements. Absorption: Experience has proven that liquid herbal extracts are the most effective way for the body to absorb medicinal herbs. Since the active constituents are in a liquid solution, they bypass the digestion process and enter the bloodstream rapidly. Once assimilated, the herbs start working in your body within minutes. Formulation: Clinical experience shows that herbal formulas, comprised of a combination of several herbs, produce better results than single herbs. In a formula, each herb is designed to support a specific body system in a manner which complements the action of other herbs and the systems they support. Well-designed, time-tested formulations address the body’s complete needs. Convenience: One of the keys to successful healing requires the ability to “stick to” a health program to get results. Even though liquid herbal extracts are effective, their strong taste and lack of convenience have prevented many from sticking to their herbal healing programs. Now, these obstacles are overcome because softgels deliver the effectiveness of liquid herbal extracts in a fast-acting, convenient form! As a Medical Herbalist, Daniel Gagnon pays great attention to detail to ensure that all of these factors come together to deliver product effectiveness that he feels confident in recommending. Available in: Fast-acting alcohol-free liquid herbal softgels and professional-strength alcohol-free extracts Also available in alcohol extracts: 1oz and 2oz.
